The biggest mistake people make with wall art? Wrong size. Too big feels overwhelming. Too small feels lost.
Here’s the formula:
Painting width = Wall width × 0.6–0.8
Example: A 3m (10ft) sofa wall → total art width should be 1.8–2.4m (6–8ft).
Quick size guide by space:
🛋️ Sofa wall (3m/10ft) → Single 120×80cm (47×31″) or two 60×80cm (24×31″)
🛏️ Bedhead wall (2m/6.5ft) → Single 80×60cm (31×24″) or two 50×70cm (20×28″)
🍽️ Above sideboard → 60×80cm (24×31″) vertical or 60cm (24″) round
📐 Narrow hallway → 40×50cm (16×20″) or 50×70cm (20×28″) vertical
Golden rule: Art should take up about 2/3 of the wall or furniture width. Equal margins top and bottom.
